From 20 to 22 March 2018, AgriteQ had returned for its sixth edition at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).
The fair has shown all the innovation in agricultural techniques, the latest innovated equipment, advanced irrigation system as well as fisheries. It has also hosted a series of lectures and meetings to discuss current and future projects in the agricultural sector with farm owners, agricultural experts, government agencies, environmental specialists and technology providers. Sessions on a number of agriculture issues in order to boost the capacity of local farmers took also place.
The exhibition is part of the ongoing efforts of the country to increase self-sufficiency in food production. In fact, H.E. Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi, Minister of Municipality and Environment, said: “The sixth edition of AgriteQ kicked off today in line with the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, and as part of Qatar’s strategy to promote its national agricultural sector and diversify its economy, broadening its targets towards increasing self-sufficiency in food production and the country’s domestic production capacities and reducing its dependency on imported products in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
A total of 313 exhibitors from several countries including Spain, Iran, Pakistan, Oman, Syria, Bulgaria, Sudan, Lebanon, Netherlands and Palestine has participated in the event. Regarding Spain we have been delighted with the presence of Spanish leading companies in the sector.
We need never mind to highlight the presence of AGUAS DE VALENCIA GROUP (GLOBAL OMNIUM). The team shared his knowledge and experience of more than 125 years in management and O&M of the integral water cycle.
The group made a presentation named “application of water treatment technologies in agriculture” introducing the concept of Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) in the design of water technologies. This concept is focused on the application of custom water technologies for each particular situation. This solution seeks both the reduction and the reuse of the generated reject in order to avoid the discharge of waterstreams with high conductivity which is a critical issue in the Middle East region characterized by hydraulic stress issues and water scarcity.
AGUAS DE VALENCIA GROUP took also part in the panel Discussion about Increasing Capacity of Water Supply from desalination and water treatment plants for the Agriculture sector.
