On April the 15th, HE Ignacio Escobar Ambassador of Spain to Qatar opened the Garden of Al-Andalus.
Cofounded among others by The Spanish Embassy and the Spanish Business Council the Garden of Al-Andalus will be staged at The Qur’anic Botanic Garden, a member of Qatar Foundation from April 15 to May 31.
Created by the Islamic Culture Foundation (FUNCI) in Madrid, the Garden of Al-Andalus exhibition falls within the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between QBG and FUNCI earlier this year to preserve Islamic cultural history for future generations.
The exhibition reflects the importance of gardens in Islam by showing the plant species used in Spain during the Islamic period, as well as the irrigation system in the gardens and some of the tools that were used for agriculture. The exhibition is an expression of the peaceful coexistence of different cultures, respect for the environment, and historical heritage.
